Bags under eyes are mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes. The can become more common as you age and are another part of the aging process. Some lifestyle habits can cause puffy eyes but mostly they are genetic.  The tissues around your eyes weaken with age, including some of the muscles supporting your eyelids. Fat that helps support the eyes can then move into the lower eyelids, causing them to appear puffy.
